Piia Maria Knit is an online store specializing in high-quality alpaca yarns. The story of these alpaca yarns begins in the Andes mountains, where demanding conditions shape the fiber into something exceptionally fine and durable. Alpaca wool is a natural treasure. Its hollow fiber structure makes alpaca yarn simultaneously light, breathable, and an excellent insulator. The high-quality baby alpaca we use is soft and pleasant against the skin, and it does not contain lanolin, which makes the yarn naturally hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin.

Our yarns are produced in Peru under a local umbrella organization operating on Fair Trade principles. The alpaca wool comes to the spinning mill from small Peruvian farms where alpaca farming is part of a centuries-old tradition. Wandering alpaca herds are part of a delicate mountain ecosystem where the animals live and graze without depleting their environment. In addition to quality, an ethically and ecologically sustainable production chain is an important value choice for us.
