PMK alpaca/cotton is a fluffy, Worsted-weight yarn from which you can knit voluminous sweaters, cardigans, and warm accessories. This yarn is at its best in long cardigans, blankets, or other large knitwear, as the yarn is wonderfully lightweight and does not stretch.
PMK alpaca/cotton has a cord-like core made of undyed organic cotton, into which blown alpaca fibers form an airy fluffy yarn. This yarn is a delightful material where opposites complement each other. Alpaca fibers make the yarn warm and soft. The stiff and inelastic cotton gives structure to the knitwear. If you want to make soft yet shape-retaining knitwear, this yarn is an excellent choice. A yarn worth trying!
Knitting patterns
From PMK alpaca/cotton, you can knit, for example, the Savu sweater or the Katve sweater and hood. The yarn is so generous that one skein is enough to knit two Höyry beanies. Additionally, the yarn is suitable for patterns sold on Piia Maria Design's Ravelry account: Kelo cardigan, and Lumi cardigan.
Care instructions
Hand wash in lukewarm water, 30°c, do not wring. Dry flat.
Alpaca wool is naturally antibacterial and repels dirt. Therefore, airing the knitwear is often enough to clean it. Cotton needs washing more often.
The yarn withstands washing well. Use wool detergent for washing and let the knitwear soak in plenty of water. Note that hot water and vigorous rubbing will felt the knitwear.
Country of manufacture
PMK alpaca/cotton is made in Peru.
The entire manufacturing process of this Fair Trade certified yarn, from fiber to yarn, is based on responsible and ecological production. Alpaca wool comes to the Peruvian spinning mill from local small farms. The cotton is Peru Pima Cotton.
Alpaca wool is certified with the RAS mark (Responsible Alpaca Standard). The mark guarantees animal welfare, ecological grazing, and registration of the wool's origin. Organic cotton is produced without harmful pesticides.
