PMK 100% alpaca lace is a thin lace-weight shawl yarn. You can knit luxurious festive knits, light summer and spring knits, and delightfully soft baby knits from it. The yarn is in a hank as a bundle of two strands. The strands are knitted together. For ultra-thin lace knits, you can separate the strands and wind them into different balls. The gauge is given for two-strand yarn and corresponds to thin Fingering weight yarns. As a single strand, the yarn is lace weight.
PMK 100% alpaca lace is made from premium baby alpaca fiber. Baby alpaca is a silky smooth and pleasantly breathable material that wicks moisture away from the body exceptionally well. Therefore, it is excellent for garments worn directly against the skin. The yarn has a beautiful sheen and the knit drapes softly. This is a wonderful material for large lace shawls, knitted dresses, and tops, for example. The yarn is also suitable for machine knitting.
Knitting patterns
PMK 100% alpaca lace yarn is suitable for patterns sold on the Piia Maria Design Ravelry account: Tuuli and Säde. Please note that the sample for the Säde poncho is knitted from slightly thicker Teetee Alpaca. When knitted with PMK yarn, the poncho will be thinner and the fabric lacier. The pattern gauge is suitable for both yarns. New, spring knitting patterns coming soon!
Care
Hand wash in lukewarm water, 30°c, no spinning. Dry flat.
Alpaca wool is naturally antibacterial and repels dirt. Therefore, airing the garment is often enough to clean it. The yarn tolerates washing well. Use wool detergent for washing and let the knit soak in plenty of water. Note that hot water and vigorous rubbing will felt the knit.
Country of manufacture
PMK 100% alpaca lace is made in Peru.
The entire manufacturing process of Fair Trade certified yarn, from fiber to yarn, is based on responsible and ecological production. The alpaca wool comes to the Peruvian spinning mill from local small farms. The alpaca wool is certified with the RAS mark (Responsible Alpaca Standard). This mark guarantees animal welfare, ecological grazing, and registration of the wool's origin.
