Knitting Pattern

Knit a light and airy Silja sweater for carefree summer evenings. The short-sleeved Silja is a timelessly elegant summer knit featuring a V-neck, raglan sleeves and understated i-cord finishes.

The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down using two strands of yarn held together throughout. It begins with the i-cord edging at the back neckline. The yoke is worked flat to the point of the V-neck, after which the work is joined and continued in the round. Once the raglan yoke is complete, the sleeves and body are separated and worked individually in the round to the desired length. The sample sweater has a cropped body that finishes at the waist. For a standard-length sweater that falls at the upper hip, continue knitting the body 10–15 cm (4–6 in) longer. The yarn requirements already include this additional length, so no extra yarn is needed.

Silja is knitted in PMK Brushed Alpaca/Merino, an ultra-light brushed alpaca and merino yarn. The size S sweater uses only 100 g of yarn. The breathable brushed alpaca blend is ideal for summer knits, as it is soft against the skin and comfortable to wear next to bare skin.

Suitable substitutes include similar brushed, fluffy yarns with a yardage of approximately 500 m (547 yds) per 50 g. The sweater can also be knitted using three strands of silk mohair held together. Please note that the yarn requirements will differ if using an alternative yarn.

Sizes: XS-S-M-L-XL-XXL-3XL-4XL, recommended ease 10-20 cm

• Bust circumference: 88-96-104-112-120-128-136-144 cm (34¾-37¾-41-44-47¼-50½-53½-56¾ in).
  
• Back length: 47-48-51-54-57-60-63-66 cm (18½-19-20-21¼-22½-23½-24¾-26 in), plus 2 cm (¾ in) i-cord edging.
  
• Sleeve circumference at widest point: 34-38-41-45-49-53-57-61 cm (13½-15-16¼-17¾-19¼-20¾-22½-24 in).
  
• Underarm sleeve length: 7-7-7-7-8-8-9-9 cm (2¾-2¾-2¾-2¾-3¼-3¼-3½-3½ in).
  

	PMK brushed alpaca/merino (55% baby alpaca + 21% merino wool, 24% polyamide, 50g = 500m), you need: 100-150-150-200-200-250-250 g
	6 mm circular needles (80 cm and 40 cm) and 6 mm double-pointed needles or according to yarn and tension.
	16 stitches and 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch using two strands of yarn held together.
